Shadow Work & Decolonizing

Hello powerFULL community! We made y’all a mini spell guide to focus on utilizing your spiritual practice as an additional tool on your anti-oppression & decolonizing journey! This 7-page guide has some guiding questions, suggestions on a few spiritual tools to further highlight/evolve internalized oppression you may carry, and a playlist to help amplify your spiritual work.

Shadow work has become a pretty common term in the spiritual communities, but we feel like not many think about what shadow work actually IS. And how fukkin HARD it can be. Mainstream spiritualism has sold it as this practice where you focus on the parts of yourself you don’t like, and try to find acceptance about it. And that is over simplyifing this work. Shadow work can surface so pain, guilt, regret, and other deeply heavy feelings & revelations. The shit literally feels like it’s tearing you apart from the inside out. It brings you to moments of questioning your whole reality and cycling through 872 existential crises a day, while you still have to perform capitalism and like you’re not completely losing it internally (and perhaps externally!).

When our spiritual self is truly aligned with our earthly self, our shadow work must address the privileged and/or ignorant parts of ourselves. We have to face the parts that were conditioned & raised in colonial capitalistic culture that put us in harms way, or gave us permission to harm others. You can’t always change the behaviors of your past, but you can use them as powerFULL tools to shift the future. Shadow work is part of that tool box that will help you truly understand what role privilege has played in your life, and how you evolve to not let those privileges harm yourself or others ever again.

We also send this mini spell guide ahead of the fall/winter season coming through the northern hemisphere. These seasons can be perfect containers to hibernate and work on yourself; re-emerging in spring being even more of a bad ass comrade than you already are. We know these seasons can also surface some darker energies, so we hope that something in this guide helps tend to those moments if you need a little more care. Take care of you <3
